Getting Started in Build A Mech!
From rusty scrap bot to a real farm loop—everything you need in the first sessions.
What you just installed yourself into
Build A Mech! by Gerwinfootball is a free-to-play Roblox incremental simulator released around 12 October 2026. Your fantasy arc is simple to say and deep to master: begin as a rusty scrap bot, haul parts through 11 wild arenas, assemble toward 30 mechs from tiny frames to giant Titans, hunt paints that can hit 1 in 10,000, earn cash while offline, and pilot every mech yourself. Servers are intimate—about 4 players—so co-op feels personal rather than megaserver chaos.
This guide is your first-hour and first-evening plan. Sibling deep dives: Farm Parts, Build Mechs, Arenas. Hub index: Guides Hub.
Minute 0–15: learn the verbs
Ignore optimization for a moment. Touch every core verb once:
- Move as the scrap bot and get used to camera and sprint habits on your device.
- Collect a part pile in the starter arena band.
- Carry without assuming infinite inventory—watch for full-cargo cues.
- Deposit / deliver at base so the haul becomes real progress.
- Open shop / upgrade panels and read costs even if you buy nothing yet.
- Enter / pilot your current mech so seating is not a surprise mid-fight later.
If any verb fails, rejoin once and retry before assuming the game is broken.
Minute 15–45: build a baby loop
Your goal is a repeatable loop, not a sightseeing tour:
Collect → Deposit → Tiny upgrade → Collect again.
Stay in the safest arena until that loop feels boring—that boredom is success. Players who sprint into mid arenas on a naked scrap frame spend the evening respawning instead of earning. Use the early section of Arenas when you are ready to step up one band only.
Cash priorities in this window:
- Anything that increases carry efficiency or survivability on your current frame.
- The cheapest unlock that clearly leads toward a B-tier bridge mech on the Mech Tier List.
- Not paint gambling. Commons are fine; trophy paints wait (Paint Tier List).
First evening goals (session 2–3)
- Finish onboarding prompts and HUD discovery.
- Own a deposit habit you could do half-asleep.
- Replace pure C-tier scrap thinking with a plan toward a mid hauler (Build Mechs).
- Complete at least one full Farm Parts style sweep without dying with a full pack.
- Log out in a state that still generates offline cash (Cash & Offline Earnings).
Controls mindset (mobile and desktop)
Roblox control schemes vary by device, so memorize intentions instead of only key labels:
- Keep the camera high enough to spot part piles early.
- Practice seating into your mech before you need it in a panic.
- Bind or position UI so deposit and inventory are not hide-and-seek.
- On mobile, pause movement before tapping tiny shop buttons to avoid misbuys.
Co-op in 4-player servers
With only a handful of pilots online together:
- Call (or emote) if you are contesting the same pile endlessly—split routes.
- Do not grief deposits; the economy is cooperative-friendly.
- Watch higher-tier mechs for route ideas, then recreate them at your power level.
- Friend helpful players via the community links on the Players Hub.
Free rewards reality check
As of November 2026, there is no confirmed active code redemption system. The Codes Hub explains status and How to Redeem prepares you for later. Do not stall your tutorial waiting on promo strings from other games.
What not to do in week one
- Dump every coin into cosmetics.
- Skip deposits because “one more pile” looks close.
- Enter the hardest arenas for content-creator vibes.
- Buy random executors because someone promised instant Titan—read Scripts risks first.
- Ignore offline income by logging out mid-carry with nothing invested in your loop.
First upgrade roadmap (concept)
- Stabilize scrap bot survivability.
- Unlock a bridge hauler (C→B).
- Farm a comfortable arena band until upgrades feel cheap.
- Move into an A-path climber when mid arenas open.
- Only then plan Titan pushes and trophy paints.
Exact part names will appear as you unlock them in-game; the roadmap is the spending logic that keeps accounts healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What should I do first in Build A Mech?
Learn collect and deposit, run a tiny upgrade loop in safe arenas, and avoid hard zones until that loop is automatic.
Is Build A Mech free to play?
Yes. It is free-to-play on Roblox. Optional purchases may exist, but the scrap-to-Titan loop works without spending.
How many players are in a server?
Servers are small—about four players—so co-op stays intimate and piles can still be contested.
Do I need codes to start?
No. Codes are not confirmed active as of November 2026. Progress with farming and upgrades instead.
When should I worry about paints?
After you have a stable hauler and offline income. Early paint hunting slows Titan progress.
